Yesterday were the People Choice Awards and, as we said last week, Taylor attended the gala with Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson. They won two Awards: Best Movie and Best Drama for Eclipse. But Taylor and Robert lost the award Best Actor (for Johnny Depp).

Ayer fue la gala de los People Choice Awards y como dijimos la semana pasada, Taylor acudió junto con Kristen Stewart y Robert Pattinson. Ganaron dos premios: Mejor Pelicula y Mejor drama, por Eclipse. Pero Taylor y Robert perdieron el premio de Mejor Actor (que ganó Johnny Depp).

“Taylor Lautner and Kristen Stewart are among the first to confirm that they’ll be attending, making the pair a recurring feature on the red carpet (remember their adorable joint presentation of a “scary movie”-themed feature at last year’s Academy Awards?), and they’ll be in good company with a host of other celebs including Zac Efron, Taylor Swift, Emma Roberts, Leighton Meester, and Mila Kunis. ”

De acuerdo, estas son las escenas favoritas, presentadas por Taylor Lautner. En primer lugar: Jacob y Bella, por supuesto no podemos dejar esto fuera, se besan por primera vez. La primera vez no fue una decisión muy inteligente por parte de Jacob; le pega un puñetazo en la cara (risas). En segundo lugar: Jacob y Bella se besan por segunda vez, estabamos en lo alto de una montaña con unas vistas preciosas y Jacob y Bella comparten su primer beso real mientras el novio de ella está a pocos metros de distancia, pero eso no importa (risas). De acuerdo, la mejor escena: la parte de la tienda de campaña. Es fantástica, nos lo pasamos muy bien y hay un tema delicado sucediendo entre Edward y Jacob, Bella supuestamente está dormida pero en realidad no lo está sino que está escuchando la conversación... Robert y yo nos estabamos riendo antes de comenzar la toma y cuando dicen "acción" y fue del estilo "tengo que meterme en el papel y odiar a este tío" así que fue un desafío muy grande en sí mismo, definitivamente. Tenemos a Edward, Bella y Jacob en un triángulo amoroso. Sigue habiendo romance llevado al límite. La escena de la tienda de campaña fue mi parte favorita en el libro y me gustó darle vida.

Our date with the sexy werewolf took place at the Four Seasons in Los Angeles. Taylor came in with a simple gray shirt, black jeans and a sports jacket in navy blue, and that great body of his. He came in with a smile, flashing his superwhite teeth, in contrast with his beautiful tanned skin. He’s confident in himself and friendly, and he’s very commited to this movie: “This movie is really, really, really good. Very good. I can’t wait for you to see it”.
He adds that just like in the previous films, this movie is very faithful to the books “we know what the fans want to see”.
His excitement is because he’s so excited about this movie, since it’s his favorite: “It’s probably because of the fact that three of them are together all the time for the first time ever in the series. It’s really the first time Bella is truly torn between these two guys. It’s the peak of this love triangle. I definitely enjoyed this part, but this level of action goes through the roof. It’s constant war, so it’s darker.”

Is Jacob the best choice?

One of the most important questions is, Why should Bella pick Jacob? Taylor thinks for a minute and says: “I don’t know. It’s a tough choice because both guys are great, but they’e so different from each other, they’re opposites. She really can’t choose one over the other so I think I understand her situation. Even if they’re so different, they have a lot of qualities too”.
Jacob, however, does think that the healthiest thing for Bella is to stay with him and not become a vampire, which Taylor agrees with: “Jacob has this very interesting dialogue the last time he tries to convince her that she should stay with him. And she tells her ‘you don’t have to change for me’, and I think that is very big of him. She can stay exactly like she is, and not having to deal with the other stuff. She can be just Bella and be with him. Jacob tells her ‘it’s as easy as breathing’.
Since he won’t give up, he confesses his love to Bella by saying “I’ll fight for you until your heart stops beating”. So romantic! So we asked him about their kiss “Which kiss?” he asks laughing “the one where she punches me, or the one where she really wants to kiss me? The first time we kiss it was against Bella’s will, and I get punched. It was a fun scene to shoot. Well, it’s not fun to kiss someone who doesn’t want you to kiss them and is pushing you away like this the whole time. Then I get punched. But the second one as good. We were on the top of this mountain with a beautiful landscape behind us and it was a romantic kiss. That was nice!”.

A sneak peek at Breaking Dawn.

As we know, BD will be two movies directed by Bill Condon, Taylor says: “I know he’ll make a ood film. He always does. The baby will be interesting, my relationship with Renesmee. We’ll see. I haven’t seen a script, so we’ll see what they can write that is in the books. The whole Jacob/Renesmee thing will most definitely be a challenge”.

Happy with the attention

There’s tons of action in the movie, so we asked him how he kept his muscles. He laughs saying: “It’s actually hard to keep the weight on, just as much as you get it in the first place. I didn’t do anything different, I had to keep training, but this time I studied the book more”. He says once again, that Eclipse is his favorite book, which made filming so much easier: “We’re strong, we’re fast, we have fur! I love that, we’re sexy!”.

Sad thing is, he couldn’t do many of his stunts: “many of my bests scenes are me as a wolf. That was very disappointing to me, but it looks cool! I’ve seen the movie, they did a great job with the wolves, the action sequences are cool”.

Zero personal questions, BUT…

Before the interview we were warned that no personal questions were allowed, so nobody brings out the rumor that he might have feelings for his co-stars (um, wut?). Darn! But, fortunately, he did answer some questions about being in love triangles before, like his character: “That is a good question. Maybe in elementary school I had one, but it was a little crush and I was eleven.”

Who kept the girl? He laughs harder: “I’m sure we both won”. But if was in the same situation right now, he would definitely win! Still, it looks like he wants to go on a date with someone “I’d say not really. It’s the same, it’s still hard”. We really doubt that. He’s super sweet and very mature.

Is he too picky? What does he look for in a girl? “She needs to be honest, loyal, dependable. She has to be fun, willing to just be herself and laugh at herself”.

Speaking of love, we want to know how romantic is Taylor. He luaghs, shyly: “I don’t know. It’s a complicated question. I don’t know. Maybe spending time together is enough for me, I don’t like anything too extravagant. You know, just dinner, a movie, simple things, enjoy our time together just the two of us, not having to worry about anything else, just sit on a couch and talk”.

After being involved with Taylor Swift and Selena Gomez, he must have some romantic advice, but he says “I’m 18. I’m at a stage where I don’t want anything serious right now, so I’m probably not the best person to give advice, just don’t take things too seriously and have fun!”.

Taylor says goodbye, but before, he shares what he wants for his future: “I want to challenge myself, do different types of roles and not do the same thing over and over”.

Taylor Lautner habla sobre lo que le atrae de una chica.

Taylor Lautner puede que sea extremadamente guapo, pero no tiene que ser una chica 10 que sea perfecta para atraerle. ¿Por qué? Taylor Lautner may be ripped and gorgeous, but a girl doesn’t have to be a Perfect 10 to attract him. Why? Because a great personality is just as (or more) important to the Twilight: Eclipse hunk as sexy good looks. “[Twilight character Bella Swan] is just this plain girl, which sometimes – I know for me – is attractive,” Lautner, 18, tells UK’s Now magazine. He adds, “Bella’s just an average girl, she’s clumsy, but I think she’s good-looking. She just has this thing about her, and Kristen Stewart plays her so well.”

That’s a refreshing statement from Taylor, who’s adored by millions of fans for his rippling six-pack and athletic good looks, especially since he works in an industry obsessed with physical perfection.

Indeed, Lautner was just named to Men’s Health magazine’s ‘Best Summer Body’ list, which was topped by Twilight co-star Kellan Lutz.

Taylor also nabbed seven individual nominations for the 2010 Teen Choice Awards, including Choice Summer Movie Star, along with Robert Pattinson. (The Teen Choice Awards, which will be hosted by Katy Perry, will air live on Fox Aug. 9.)

Taylor, who rides a motorcycle, is shirtless and has super-slick fight scenes in the upcoming thriller Abduction, recently caused a commotion on the film’s Pittsburgh, Pa., set, when over 100 female fans showed up to catch a glimpse of the Twilight sensation. When Lautner approached the crowd to sign autographs, lovesick fans were unable to control their emotions, shrieking and jumping up and down.

Meanwhile, Lautner has been keeping up his intense muscle-building workouts to maintain the buff physique he needs to play hulking werewolf Jacob Black in the Twilight saga. While Taylor eats every two hours and works out five days a week, he says resting is just as important to his fitness program.

Training and eating are only two-thirds of the muscle-building equation. “The other third is recovery,” he says. Lautner takes every third day off and never works out more than 5 days a week. “If you constantly pound your muscles, they’ll never have time to repair.”

Later this year, Taylor will begin shooting Breaking Dawn, the fourth installment in the Twilight saga. Breaking Dawn will be broken up into two separate films, with Part 1 due out in November 2011.

Debido a problemas de agenda dado que Taylor se encuentra en pleno rodaje de Abduction y tendrá que reunirse con sus compañeros de la Saga Crepúsculo para empezar el rojade de la primera parte de Amanecer a finales de este verano, se ha echo imposible su participación en la pelicula "X-Men: First Class" donde posiblemente interpretaría a un jovencísimo Lobezno. Así lo había deseado el director de la pelicula, Bryan Singer; un proyecto del que finalmente no podrá formar parte Taylor.

Due to his busy schedule, because he is now filming Abduction and at the end of this summer he has to be ready to start filming the first part of the upcoming new movie of the Twilight Saga: Breaking Down, was imposible for Taylor to be part of the new film "X-Men: First Class". Mientras se grababa una escena de Eclipse, Taylor se ofreció voluntario para ayudar a Kristen a entrar en situación. La escena en sí, corresponde a una parte del entrenamiento con Jasper para la lucha con los neófitos. Jacob, en su forma de lobo, aparece junto a Bella mientras esta le habla.
Para grabar la escena, Taylor tuvo que ponerse un traje completamente azul que le cubría todo el cuerpo para luego poder introducir en su lugar al lobo hecho por ordenador. Aquí teneis las fotos:

While an Eclipse scene was being filmed, Taylor helped voluntarily Kristen to concentrate to shot the scene. It corresponds to the training part with Jasper to learn how to fight with the newborns. Jacob, as a wolf, is next to Bella while she is talking to him.
To shot the scene, Taylor had to put on a complete blue suit that covered all his body and was very tight to, later, put in the image of the werewolf made by computer. Here you are the pics:

L.A. --- Si le preguntas a algunas adolescentes de qué equipo son más leales, y probablemente no escucharás una respuesta referida a the Blackhawks, White Sox, Bears o Cubs. Probablemente dejarán temblando tus oidos con gritos de diferentes tipos por la nueva película “La Saga Crepúsculo: Eclipse”. Serás Team Edward si amas al vampiro Edward Cullen, interpretado por Robert Pattinson. Team Jacob es para las fans del hombre lobo Jacob Black que normalmente va sin camiseta y enseñando sus abdominales, interpretado por Taylor Lautner.
Recientemente, fui un invitado de Summit Entertainment en Los Angeles, y hablé con ambos actores, quienes están inmersos ahora mismo en la guerra de amor con colmillos incluidos.

P: Los dos habéis pasado por los tres directores diferentes de estas adaptaciones a la pantalla. ¿Cuáles han sido las diferencias para vosotros?

Recently, I was a guest of Summit Entertainment in Los Angeles, talking with both actors, who are now on their third installment of fang-filled love tug of war.

Q: You both have been through three different directors on these movie adaptations. What's been the difference for you?

Robert Pattinson: I don't know necessarily if it shows in the final film, but the difference between Chris Weitz ("New Moon" director) and David Slade ("Eclipse" director) is dramatic. Chris saw the first one and just thought that he wanted to follow along the road. David wanted to do it completely different from the first two. It all felt so fresh right from the first day. Edward's movement and such, from every single part of the performance, it just really shook it up a little bit.

Taylor Lautner: Well, Jacob gets a little more frustrated and a little heated in this one. It was very emotional for me. There are a lot of emotional scenes between Jacob and Bella (played by Kristen Stewart) and Jacob and Edward. He becomes very close to Bella, there's the much-talked-about kissing scene — but also all of the fighting scenes, so it was good ... it was much more dramatically challenging.

Q: And what about that kissing scene with Kristen? I know that you're both very good friends. That has to be a little awkward.

TL: We are very close friends, but I wouldn't say it was awkward. After we finished a take of the kissing scene that was kind of steamy, there would be a moment of silence and then we'd look at each other and she'd go, "Ewww, we just kissed … weird." And then we had to do it again and again. After a while, it got kind of mechanical.

Taylor sorprendió a las fans que acudieron al cine de Pittsburgh para ver la nueva pelicula de la Saga Crepúsculo: Eclipse.
Apareció frente a la pantalla grande dándo una grata sorpresa a todos los allí presentes. Se mostró muy agradable, como es costumbre en el, y entre gritos del tipo "quitate la camiseta" (ante lo que rió vergonzosamente) deseó que les gustara la pelicula. También se refirió a varias fans que estaban en la primera fila y que llevaban camisetas con motivos diferentes de la saga aunque hizo incapié en que "me gusta la del final", haciendo referencia a la proclamación en ella de Jacob's Army.
Sin duda un recuerdo que muy pocos de esa sala podrán olvidar.

He was very kind, like always, and between shouts of "take your shirt off” (what he shamefully laughed at) he whished that everyone enjoyed the movie. Spotting three women in “Twilight”-themed shirts at the end of the third row of seats, he told them “I love the shirts,” then corrected himself by saying, “I like the one at the end” — a reference to its Jacob’s Army proclamation.
A memory that they'll never forget.

P: ¿Por qué Eclipse es tu libro favorito de la saga? (Lauren S.)
R: Por todo: el romance, la acción, el suspense…todo es genial. Y como chico, hay mucha acción, es muy intenso y eso me gusta mucho.

P: ¿Cómo te metes en las partes en las que tu personaje está muy enfadado? (Tiffany, Rancho Cucamonga, CA.)
R: Tengo un lado oscuro (risas). Es duro y sobretodo cuando al que tienes que odiar, Edward, está interpretado por un chico como Rob porque es un tío muy agradable. El reto más grande de esta película fue tener que hacer eso.

P: ¿Qué tipo de película o libros fueron tu obsesión mientras crecías? (Anna, Scarsdale, NY.)
R: Siempre he estado obsesionado con Gladiator, fue siempre uno de mis…Gladiator, Braveheart. También me gustan los tíos ardientes…y Dakota…Vale, me estoy saliendo de contexto…(risas).

P: ¿Qué haces en tu tiempo libre en el set? (Misty Dawn Beliveau).
R: No es nada emocionante, no hacemos nada arriesgado como que Kristen me lance uvas y yo las “cace” con la boca pero tienes razón todos estamos muy unidos y somos buenos amigos y eso nos beneficia a la hora de trabajar, somos muy honestos los unos con los otros y podemos debatir sobre cualquier cosa y eso ayuda mucho.

P: ¿Qué tienes en común con Jacob? (Yassmeen, Pleasanton, CA.)
R: Jacob es muy persistente con Bella, lucha por ella como el mismo dice hasta que su corazón deje de latir y creo que en eso nos parecemos un poco porque he sido enseñado de que nada llega sin trabajar duro y definitivamente se dá el caso conmigo, no te levantas una mañana y las cosas sencillamente caen en tus manos así que definitivamente se necesita mucho trabajo duro y persistencia.

P: ¿Cómo fue grabar la escena del beso? (Mikayla, Owenton, Kentucky.)
R: ¿Cuál? Por que hay dos: en la primera me dan un puñetazo en la cara así que supongo que estás hablando sobre la segunda así que me referiré a esa. Fue bien, fue muy muy bien; fue bueno para Jacob tener su oportunidad su primer beso con Bella. Subimos a lo alto de esta montaña y rodamos la escena en lo alto con un fondo precioso y la cámara nos rodeaba. Fue como el último beso supremo de una película (NT:el mejor que se ha visto hasta ahora en una película).

P: ¿Cuál fue tu escena favorita en la película? (Kortney Simple)
R: La escena de la tienda de campaña, esa fue con diferencia mi escena favorita. Es tan intensa pero a la vez es graciosa tan solo por culpa de las circunstancias. Y es la primera vez que Jacob y Edward son capaces de conectar y entenderse el uno al otro.

El primero corresponde a la parte en la que Edward lleva a Bella a la frontera Quileute para que ella se vaya con Jacob a pasar el día. La tensión se masca en el ambiente:

Al principio de Eclipse, Jacob y Bella son tan solo amigos porque Edward se le acaba de declarar a Bella lo cual hiere a Jacob muchísimo y una vez más, a medida que nos adentramos en la pelicula y en la historia Jake y Bella comienzan a conectarse de nuevo, así que me gusta pensar en Eclipse como el momento cumbre del triángulo amoroso.
Bella es la razón por la que Victoria quiere vengar a James, al que mataron en la primera pelicula, y ahora vuelve buscando esa venganza y va directamente tras Bella y el labor de Jacob y Edward es unirse y protegerla.
En Luna Nueva la visión de Jacob...el lo odia con todas sus fuerzas, lo ODIA, y ahora en Eclipse cuando es forzado a unirse a el para proteger a Bella se le fuerza también a conocerle un poco más, lo que pasa por su cabeza y esa escena es la parte de la tienda de campaña, en esa escena es cuando Jacob y Edward mantienen una conversación muy seria mientras Bella está supuestamente dormida; y yo me doy cuenta, lo que es completamente injusto, que Edward es capaz de leer el pensamiento así que el entiende todo lo que pasa por mi cabeza pero yo no tengo ni idea de lo que pasa por la suya. Así que le pido que me deje entrar en su cabeza, si tu puedes ver dentro de la mía es mejor que yo también pueda hacer lo mismo con la tuya.
Sam es el macho alpha, el es el cabeza de "familia", pero lo gracioso es que en realidad (y se lo explico a Bella también), Jacob ha renunciado a ser el macho alpha. Es un poco interesante...Jacob renuncia a ello, le transfiere toda la responsabilidad a Sam, así que ahora Sam es el alpha y después tienes a Jacob; tienes a Paul, que es el impulsivo (como nosotros le llamamos); Jared, que es uno de los graciosos que está interpretado por Bronson y Bronson es una total estrella de las bromas lo que es perfecto; y después están Embry y Quil, los mejores amigos de Jacob, que siempre están ahí para el, siempre están tras el ayudandole.
Tenemos nuevo director, David Slade. En mi opinión creo que es impresionante para nosotros, como actores, trabajar en una misma historia con los mismos compañeros pero con un director diferente que es capaz de modelar la historia con su propio estilo, es increíble para nosotros. Estoy muy agradecido de haber podido tener esta oportunidad. Es interesante, ya sabes, cuando tienes un nuevo director pero el resto del equipo es el mismo.
Considerando que estamos en guerra, que Victoria busca venganza, que tenemos licántropos totalmente implicados en la historia ahora creo que esta pelicula va a ser definitivamente más oscura y no hay ninguna otra mejor opción ahí fuera a parte de David Slade para eso.

CHICAGO — El elegantemente despeinado Robert Pattinson tiene una contagiosa y fuerte risa que nunca haría para su seductor amante vampiro, Edward Cullen.

El musculoso y refinado Taylor Lautner es de tamaño de bolsillo comparado con la amenazante estatura de su homólogo licántropo, Jacob Black.
La casual aunque guay Kristen Stewart puede ser una auténtica charlatana, no como su taciturna Bella Swan, la estudiante de instituto en medio de una guerra entre estos dos sobrenaturales objetos de deseo adolescente...¿Chica afortunada, verdad?. “Sí, pero eso es en las películas”, dice Stewart acerca dar vida a la moderna heroína gótica de la increíblemente popular saga Crepúsculo (85 millones de copias vendidas hasta ahora). “Simplemente soy la máxima fan. El juego de la fama

Pero primero hay que hablar de la molestia que provoca estar en la lista de los más buscados por los paparazzi. Cuando se estrenó Luna Nueva el pasado otoño, apenas pasaba un día sin ver un titular sobre Lautner y la cantante country Taylor Swift, o especulaciones sobre si Pattinson y Stewart eran pareja en la vida real.

El presupuesto extra parece haber dado sus frutos, especialmente con los efectos especiales. Incluso el alter-ego de Lautner, el lobo creado por ordenador, es más adorable ahora que en Luna Nueva. “Sí”, dice el actor tímidamente. “Fue muy mimoso. No sé si es lo que esperábamos”.

Parlotea sobre si contar una escena en la que la bestia de tamaño de un caballo dulcemente hocica a Bella, y ella le rasca la oreja. Después de un poco de persuasion, cede.
“Ese día fui al set y me puse un traje gris apretado…”..

Pero continúan siendo demandados para papeles más maduros. Y quizás en 3-D. Pero los actores solo pueden confirmar su participación.
Lo que sí se ha decidido es que el director será Bill Condon, el realizador detrás de Dreamgirls y guionista nominado al Oscar por Chicago.
¿Han conocido ya a Condon, quien publicó un comunicado en Facebook asegurando a los fans que aprecia el material,y que la película definitivamente no será un musical, a pesar de sus antecedentes?.

Casual yet cool Kristen Stewart can be a real chatterbox, unlike her moody Bella Swan, the high schooler in a romantic tug of war between these two supernatural objects of teen desire.

Lucky girl, right? "Yeah, but that's in the movies," Stewart says about bringing to life the modern-day Gothic heroine from the insanely popular Twilight book series (85 million copies sold so far). "I'm just the ultimate fan. If you read a story and you like it andconnect to it, it probably means you've inserted yourself in the story, and I get to do that on the most glorified level possible."

All things 'Twilight'

Hollywood fantasy regularly blends with everyday reality for these three blazing-hot rising stars. It has taken a while for a cultural navigator like Oprah Winfrey to zero in on the heat behind the literary-spawned phenom. But on this early May morning, Twilight fever is raging at Harpo Studios as the actors file into the backstage area after taping a show that aired Thursday. The occasion? Eclipse, the third chapter in an already billion-dollar worldwide franchise that arrives June 30.

The actors are unfazed by the shrieking adoration of a largely female audience, many in black Twilight T's — Team Edward and Team Jacob are duly represented — and all handpicked for their passion for the epic movie series based on author Stephenie Meyer's four-part saga.

"It's so nice sometimes, preaching to the converted," says Pattinson, 24, the London-born overnight sex symbol and primary reason for the screams. Thanks to his devoted worshipers, he has been elevated from a little-known Harry Potter supporting player to one of Time's 100 most influential people in the world in less than three years. They were out in force the night before at a Winfrey-sponsored screening of an unfinished print of Eclipse. Afterward, a firestorm of fan Tweets rife with "OMGs" gushed about the much-anticipated sequel to 2008's Twilight and last year's New Moon.

Once Stewart, 20, painstakingly signs Winfrey's guest book and Lautner, 18, stops practicing his grape-tossing parlor trick, the castmates settle into a buttery leather sofa to talk about such topics as the iconic moments that are re-created in Eclipse, run-ins with other celebrities and what the post-Twilight future holds.

The fame game

But, first, the pain of fame that comes from being on the paparazzi's most-wanted list is addressed. When New Moon opened last fall, barely a day went by without seeing a headline about Lautner and country cutie Taylor Swift or speculation on whether Pattison and Stewart are a real-life couple.

Although, lately, the frenzy has calmed somewhat, judging by the number of Twilight-free magazine covers at grocery checkouts. "I don't know if this is the actual reason why, but we have gotten better at hiding over the last year," Pattinson says.

"That's totally the reason," Stewart concurs. "They just make up a story to go along with the pictures. If they never get the picture, there's no story. We are just good hiders now."

Such subterfuge includes neither confirming nor denying that they are in a relationship. Yet there clearly is some sort of special connection between the two, what with their playful teasing and personal asides. Let's just say it wasn't Lautner who placed a hand on Pattinson's leg during a portion of the interview.

But all three take their Twilight-related duties to heart, whatever they might require. Stewart even leaps up in a panic at one point, fearing she misspelled a word in her salutation to Winfrey. She checks the book: "Believe — ie or ei?"

"I before e except after c," Pattinson responds. She checks. "Oh, yeah," she says with a triumphant fist pump.

Pattinson laughs. "I almost spelled Oprah wrong. I almost wrote Opera."

The actors are keen to know how Eclipse played to the crowd at the screening and are pleased to hear that every element has been heightened: the horror, the romance, the three-way interaction among their characters, the touches of humor that often come at the expense of Edward and Jacob's rivalry — especially after they forge a testy alliance to save Bella from a roving gang of rabid newborn vampires.

Stewart says of Eclipse's positive early reception: "It is a well-oiled machine at this point. We have had a lot of time to establish what this thing is about and a lot of time to consider it. And they gave us so much more money this time. So that is exciting."

Pattinson, looking bemused, quickly clarifies her statement. "For the film. The budget."

Stewart is chagrined. "Oh, my God. No, no. That didn't even occur to me. They gave us so much more money to make the film look good!"

The leads did get raises — Stewart and Pattinson are taking home a reported $7.5 million each plus a percentage of the gross, Lautner gets $5 million — while the production's price tag grew to $65 million, still modest compared with similar franchises.

Yet the few extra bucks seem to have paid off, especially with the effects. Even Lautner's CG wolf alter-ego is more adorable than in New Moon. "Yeah," says the actor, sheepishly. "It was very cuddly. I don't know if that's what we were aiming for."

He waffles over the wisdom of sharing an anecdote about the scene in which the vicious horse-sized beast sweetly nuzzles Bella and she scratches his ear. After a little coaxing, he relents.

"That day I came on set and put on this tight gray spandex suit ..."

"There is dialogue and I talk to him," Stewart explains. "I said, 'How am I going to do this without Taylor?' " So instead of the actress pretending that a massive computer-animated wolf was nearby, Lautner volunteered to be its stand-in.

"Basically, it looked like a Teletubby," he continues about his outfit. "I had this circle on the face but everything else was covered. It was weird. But, yeah, I stood there and would literally bend over ..."

"I would actually pet his head," Stewart adds.

Pattinson, meanwhile, struggled with Edward's rather formal proposal to Bella, which reflects the fact that although his vintage vampire looks 17, he hails from the turn of the last century.

"I was dreading the day it was coming," he says of the scene that was held until the very end of the shoot. "The first time I read the script, I thought, 'This is impossible.' " References to "promenades" and sharing "iced tea on the porch" as Edward explains how he would have courted Bella in the old days especially stuck in his throat. "It's so earnest. I finally convinced the producers that you can play it with a bit of awareness of not being a fictional character. I'm not trying to be part of a Gothic novel."

When Pattinson finally watched it, however, he was pleasantly surprised. "It seems different when you see it."

Their profiles have grown with each film, and celebrity status does afford them the chance to mingle with their own idols. Although, more often than not, the other stars are the ones bedazzled as they request autographs for their Twilight-crazed kids.

"I took a picture with Ron Howard last year at the Oscars," Pattinson recalls. "I thought it was the funniest thing. I asked, 'Is it for your kids?' He said, 'No, it's for me. I want to have it on my phone.' " Making the situation even odder: Howard's daughter, Bryce Dallas Howard, is in Eclipse.

Alas, Pattinson has yet to run into his favorite, Jack Nicholson.

Stewart pipes up: "I have."

Pattinson: "What? When did you meet?"

Stewart: "At a screening for Into the Wild," her 2007 coming-of-age drama directed by Sean Penn. "He was exactly like you think he would be."

Pattinson, sounding peeved: "You never told me that."

Lautner joins in. "I didn't meet him but I sat next to him at a Lakers game."

Pattinson, utterly exasperated: "What?"

Life beyond 'Twilight'

Next subject. The three are actively trying to ward off post-Twilight typecasting by doing solo projects in between. Stewart and Pattinson, both bookworms and drawn to art-house fare, earned OK reviews but underwhelming ticket sales for their two recent releases, the girl-band bio The Runaways and the romantic melodrama Remember Me.

But they continue to be in demand for more mature roles. Stewart is psyched to be a part of a big-screen version of Jack Kerouac's On the Road, which starts shooting in August. Pattinson recently wrapped his work on the London set of Bel Ami as a 19th-century social-climbing rogue opposite Kristin Scott Thomas, Uma Thurman and Christina Ricci. Does he bed all three?

"Yes, but they're not like typical love scenes at all," he says.

Adds Stewart: "They're all a little weird. A little edgy. And a little nude." Chuckling ensues.

Meanwhile, Lautner — a natural athlete who played a high school track star in the box-office-topping ensemble comedy Valentine's Day— seems to be angling to become the next big action hero with upcoming roles in the thriller Abduction and Stretch Armstrong, a 3-D adventure based on a toybox muscleman.

Did he ever own one of the dolls, whose limbs could be pulled and elongated like taffy? "I don't remember having one at my house, but I totally remember stretching that sucker."

Then there is the next Twilight feature, Breaking Dawn, opening Nov. 18 next year. The fourth and presumably final book is so jammed with life-altering events — a wedding, first-time sex between Bella and Edward, a grotesquely painful birth — that there has been talk of doing two films back to back. And it might even be in 3-D. But the actors can confirm only their involvement.

What has been decided is that Breaking Dawn's director will be Bill Condon, the filmmaker behind Dreamgirlsand Oscar-nominated screenwriter of Chicago.

Have they met Condon, who already posted a letter on Facebook reassuring fans of his appreciation of the material and that the film most definitely will not be a musical despite his résumé?

Lautner nods yes.

Pattinson: "When did you meet him?" Lautner: "One day." Stewart: "Did you have a meeting?" Lautner: "No, no." Pattinson: "I literally met him three nights ago."

Stewart, in a mock snit: "Well, he obviously doesn't want to meet me."
